Dixon Ranch DEIR public comment period

posted Jan 12, 2015, 8:59 AM by Green Valley Alliance

Hello friends of GVA-

This is a reminder that the draft EIR (Environmental Impact Report) for Dixon Ranch is available for public comment through Feb. 9th. If you haven't already, go to the county's Planning page ( & scroll down to access the files for download.  Here are a few highlights:
  • The site is currently 4 agriculturally zoned parcels with a low density land use designation, proposed for rezone to 605 residential units (site plan below)
  • traffic on Green Valley Rd will double at the project access point (current level: 4,682 daily trips at Deer Valley & Green Valley; 4,931 proposed to be added)
  • project 'Alternatives' include opening Lima Wy, maybe because the traffic impact on Green Valley Rd will be huge
  • 44% of the oak canopy is proposed to be removed to accommodate the project, although only 10% is allowed by county policy
  • the draft EIR concludes there are no significant impacts to 'Visual Resources'.
Read it for yourselves, and send the county your feedback. Remember this is a General Plan Amendment, NOT an entitlement.
Public comments on the draft EIR should be submitted to:

Lillian McLeod, Principal Planner -
Supervisor Shiva Frentzen -
Supervisor Brian Veerkamp -
Supervisor Michael Ranalli -
Supervisor Sue Novasel -
Jim Mitrisiin, Clerk of the Board -

Note: Supervisor Mikulaco is required to recuse himself from any votes/discussion of this project because of his ownership of adjacent property.

WE NEED YOUR VOICES.  Tell the Board of Supervisors the Green Valley Corridor cannot support the proposed density of Dixon Ranch, and that the rural zoning per the General Plan must be maintained.  Remember your Supervisors have no idea what you think unless you tell them.
