BOS 2/24 and 2/25 Outcomes:

Monday's Special Meeting of the Board (2/24) - County staff presented  'county growth projection' options to the supervisors in three scenarios, but they were based on vastly different input parameters.  Supervisors from Districts 2 through 5 wisely requested staff to return March 11th with scenarios that present an 'apples to apples' comparison.  The District 1 Supervisor did not see the need for a straight comparison, and voted against that.[I stand corrected on the vote: the minutes say that the vote was unanimous - 3/13/14]

Additionally, Caltrans and Sacog representatives were NOT on hand as anticipated for the Measure Y discussion. There was no acknowledgement by the county that Hwy 50 is under the jurisdiction of Caltrans, and in fact county counsel put it in the hands of the supervisors.    (link to video: http://eldorado.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?view_id=2&clip_id=345;  time stamp 7:24:28;  )

Bill Center put our concerns together well (time stamp: 7:28:28)  Again, the RCU initiative we are backing is important to ensure that our supervisors listen to the entity responsible for Hwy 50 rather than just those pushing for massive development, and their friends on county staff.

On Tuesday (2/25) in the regular meeting of the Board, supervisors voted to allow 120 days for the public review period for the draft EIR, beginning with its release in the third week of March.  Many thanks to those of you who wrote to our supervisors with that request!

Also Tuesday, the Board voted to remove the Community Region boundary review from the General Plan update, and placed it on a 'parallel path' in the hands of county staff.  Staff has already received near identical direction over the past 12 months and demonstrated repeatedly that they have no desire to follow through.  The RCU initiative will give county residents control over whether to allow the high density subdivisions of Dixon Ranch, Marble Valley, Lime Rock Valley, San Stino, and others - Sign it when you see it!!
