6-13-13 Post-Transportation Commission Meeting update

posted Jun 13, 2013, 9:41 PM by Green Valley Alliance
Thanks so much to all of you who have signed the petition to date, and those who helped with the push for signatures in the last 24 hrs.  The petition we handed the Transportation Commission today was all that much stronger because of it.
Three Updates to share with you:

1) The Transportation Commission hearing today was a "good news-bad news" kind of thing...

The good news:  This was a very supportive Board, unanimously supportive of the traffic study and agreeing that they need to 'elevate' the issue of traffic on Green Valley Rd. (Supervisors Briggs, Veerkamp, & Mikulaco, plus 3 commissioners from the city of Placerville make up the Board)
The bad news:  There's no money, and no available grants to make a study happen.  They've referred us back to DOT...we're not done- keep sending people to sign the petition!

2) On Tuesday 6/11, the Board of Supervisors voted not to proceed with a Development Agreement on Wilson Estates at this time (..this is a good thing). More info on both the projects page & the gallery. 'Thanks' to those of you who wrote letters!

3) The 'White Paper' regarding how the County might go about adjusting the Community Region boundaries, has been made available and we have a link on the Community Regions page to make it a bit easier to find.  Mark your calendars for June 27th (that's a date change..) to join the County's Workshop on Community Regions. The request has been made by the Shingle Springs group to hold both a day and evening session, to accommodate those who are unable to take time away from work, but would like to come.

email us with questions on any of these!
